Printing – MI 115/116

This guide is designed to help you set up and troubleshoot the printers available to NI/CNBC members in the Mellon Institute. If you encounter any issues with your printer, please notify the NI Computing Administrator, David, either in person or via email. David will do his best to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Note: If your work is time-sensitive, please use an alternative printer from the list below until the issue is addressed.

Available Printers

The CNBC provides the following printers. To prevent errors, please ensure you are using the correct driver for each specific model.

Location Printer Model IP Address Features Driver Link
MI Room 115 Konica Minolta bizhub C361i 128.2.244.33 Color, Duplex, FS-539 Finisher, Copier, Scanner Konica Minolta Driver
MI Room 115 Brother HL-4570CDW 128.2.244.194 Color, Duplex Brother HL-4570CDW Driver
MI Room 116 Brother HL-L8350CDW 128.2.245.96 Color, Duplex Brother HL-L8360CDW Driver

Special Feature: The FS-539 Finisher

The Konica Minolta C361i is equipped with an FS-539 Finisher. This hardware attachment allows for professional document handling directly from the print menu:

  • Stapling: Automatically staple up to 50 sheets in the corner or side.

  • Offset Sorting: Shifts each printed set slightly to the side, making it easy to separate multiple copies of the same document.

  • High-Capacity Output: Allows the printer to handle larger print runs without the paper tray overflowing.

Printer Setup Instructions

Windows 11 Installation

For the most reliable connection, we recommend adding the printer manually via its IP address.

  1. Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.

  2. Click Add device, wait a moment, then select The printer that I want isn’t listed (Add manually).

  3. Choose Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname, then click Next.

  4. Hostname or IP address: Enter the IP address from the table above (e.g., 128.2.244.33).

  5. Device type: Select Autodetect.

  6. Follow the prompts to install the driver. If the specific model isn’t listed, click Have Disk and point the installer to the driver file you downloaded from the links above.

  7. Name the printer (e.g., “MI 115 Konica”) and select Do not share this printer.

macOS Installation

  1. Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

  2. Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax… button (or the + icon).

  3. Click the IP tab (the globe icon) at the top of the window.

  4. Address: Enter the IP address (e.g., 128.2.244.33).

  5. Protocol: Select HP Jetdirect – Socket (usually the most stable for Konica/Brother).

  6. Use: macOS should automatically detect the software. If it defaults to “Generic PostScript,” click the dropdown, choose Select Software…, and search for the model (e.g., C361i).

  7. Click Add.
